It took 120 minutes for the Royals to dispose of League One Swansea in this Carling Cup tie. It was the Welsh side who enjoyed long periods of possession, but were let down by poor finishing and a solid defence.

Reading striker Leroy Lita grabbed the only goal of the game at the end of the first period of extra time, slotting home with his right foot. Earlier, the Royals found themselves down to ten men for the third game in five this season as Sam Sodje saw red for two bookable offences.

So Reading are through to the Third Round of the Carling Cup, with the draw taking place on Sky this Saturday.
