Reading 0-3 West Ham

1st January 2007 and the Royals tore West Ham to shreds in a 6-0 hammering at the Madstad. Today West Ham exacted revenge as they took all three points in a 3-0 win.

Alan Curbishley's men relyed on a swift counter attacking game that saw Craig Bellamy give the visitors an early lead. Reading began to look more assured and almost got back on level terms before the break as Brynjar Gunnarsson laid the ball back into the path of Stephen Hunt who saw his careful shot strike the crossbar.

Early in the second half it was all over. Bellamy and Etherington exchanged a smart one-two inside the Reading penalty area and the winger beat Hahnemann with a clinical finish. To make things worse, the closing stages saw Doyle's penalty saved by Green and in injury time Etherington completed West Ham's day with the third and final goal.

Did you go? Can Reading bounce back after the international break now? Post your opinions here.
