Sunderland 2-1 Reading
The Royals slipped to a third consecutive defeat after losing at Sunderland today. It was the home side's first win since the opening day, while Reading remain in the bottom three of the Premier League.
Reading created little of any note during the opening 45 minutes, Kitson and Lita combining in the first minute was as good as it got. Sunderland spent £6m on striker Kenwyne Jones and he repaid a big part of that with a goal and an assist. Dave 'what a bargain' Kitson became the first Royals striker to score this season but it was nothing more than a consolation five minutes from time.
Reading were almost handed a way back into the game in injury time when Kitson just failed to get on the end of Andre Bikey's header back across goal. The journey back home is a long one. Wigan at the Madstad next Saturday is now becoming a must win game.
