Reading 0-2 Bolton

A sixth successive defeat left the Royals just a place off the relegation zone and in freefall in the Premier League as Bolton grabbed their first away win in 10 months.

Reading started brightly but after Marcus Hahnemann saved Matt Taylor's penalty, Kevin Nolan gave the Trotters the lead on 33 minutes with a 12-yard shot. Heidar Helguson made it 2-0 just before the hour mark, beating the Reading defence to slot home. Reading attacked for much of the second half, but Bolton's defence stood firm.
