Liverpool 2-1 Reading

Marek Matejovsky scored a stunning 25 yard strike to give Reading the lead at Anfield, but it was not enough as the in-form Reds hit back with goals from Mascherano and Torres.

The Royals certainly began the brighter and they could have gone two ahead after 15 minutes if Shane Long had not overhit a through-ball to John Oster who was free on the right-hand side of the penalty area. But Liverpool levelled through Javier Mascherano on nineteen minutes and took the lead soon after the break thanks to Fernando Torres’ header.
