Reading climbed out of the Premier League relegation zone and into the dizzy heights of 13th after beating Manchester City thanks to goals from Shane Long and substitute Dave Kitson.

It was no more than the Royals deserved against a City side depleated through injury and suspensions. It was also a moral boosting second clean sheet victory that had the home faithful singing "We are staying up!" at the end. On this showing, nobody is going to argue with that.
