PA review: Chelsea
So the first home game of the new season came and went as quick as a Kitson sending off or an Andre Bikey goal! Despite the wrong result on the pitch last night against Chelsea, it was an admirable performance from the team off the pitch. With the two Pauls away on holiday, it was left to myself, Stuart and Jon our cameraman to ensure the night went without a hitch.
The heavens opened shortly before kick-off to leave Stuart srambling around for protection - ending up claiming Michael Dubbery's training jacket! The weather was clearly trying it's hardest to put more than a dampner on proceedings, knocking out our satellite signal for a while as well as the link to Jon who only made it as far as the North Stand for his pre-match coverage of fans.
A new look and feel to the graphics on the video screen was also unveiled. The club were impressed too - very ESPN-like according to Andy West. Still room for improvement though as it was the first time I'd been able to visually test them out on the screen, so expect a change to some font sizes before the Everton game on Saturday. For the observant among you, I'd also like to apologise for the wrong dates shown for the upcoming West Ham and Derby matches - the perils of copy and paste struck home!
With no Sky present at the game, it was the BBC's camera crew who took over the press gantry. Unfortunately the quality of signal suffered in the conditions which explains the lack of match coverage on the video screen.
Half time saw the new Play Your Shirts Right game as well as Royals fan Ashley Bruce singing his new song. And what about Tom Hark I hear you ask! Yep, after 4 years of playing music after goals, together with the club we've called time on the ditty for this season.
So all in all, an eventful first game for the PA team and we're very interested to hear your thoughts on what you saw and heard last night. Do you like the Premier League anthem? Did she really mean to go higher than Duberry 29 in the half time game? Is Stuart staking a claim for the on-pitch job? Am I staking a claim for the goal announcements? On screen live match coverage or grahics?

Just wanted to say how nice it was to be able to celebrate the goal without having the celebrations interrupted by Tom Hark!!
I noticed no Tom Hark! Yes! Although I wondering if it was the surprise and excitement of the first goal of the season like the Middlesboro game last season.
Well done Stuart - good job on Wednesday - not a sign of any nerves! Paul had better watch out - his job may be at risk! Cant decide whether on screen live match coverage or graphics - but you may have a problem if every team play in those revolting colours that chelsea turned up in!
Thank God, thought I was going mad when Wet Sham came up as the 18th September!
Never minded Tom Hark, the only down side to me was that we weren't the only ones that used it.
I see Sky Sports News has followed our lead on the 'Lux Aeterna' music (as did Britain's Got Talent, but swear I was only watching it because my sister wanted to!)
Felt sorry for Stuart standing there in the rain for two games running - of course it will be brilliant sunshine when Mr Allen bothers to show his face next.
Any chance of requests for pre-match music? Also, does the £107 rollover if the dimwits, sorry contestants don't win? I mean, higher than a Michael Duberry? If Stuart was being Brucie, does that make the Producer one of his dolly dealers??
Happy to listen to any requests. Had a letter, you know paper thing with a stamp!, sent in ahead of today's game asking for Any Dream Will Do by Lee Mead! Aparently he's a Royal? And no, we didn't play it sorry.
No rollover, no changing shirts and no dolly dealers...yet! :-)
Thank goodness - not sure if the world is ready for Stuart in a short skirt yet.... :->
