Reading 1-0 Lyon

An excellent performance from Reading as they beat six times French champions Lyon 1-0 thanks to a second half strike from Simon Cox.

Reading started this game so much better that the River Plate match. Kevin Doyle had a 5th minute penalty saved, Long stumbled in reaching the rebound in an end to end encounter with French champions Lyon. The Royals just edged the first half. Not sure we can expect this at half-time in the Madstad this season though - Hal Robson-Kanu is apparently having to run away from a life size beer bottle! The second half started in explosive fashion with Simon Cox almost scoring inside the first two minutes, before netting in the 63rd minute following a great run and cross from Shane Long.

Listened to the dulcet tones of Andy West and Simon Heggie (who seemed to be eating his mic) on Reading World in the office, and their full match report is here.

Cox seals Reading triumph reported Sky Sports, while Setanta played on the apple theme with their headline of Cox strike pips Lyon. And The Times also follows up with Reading grab vital win over Lyon.
