New Premier League anthem

There will be a new Premier League anthem this season and BTB will be getting hold of their copy later this week.

Top-flight bigwigs have decided to change the Premier League Theme and the new beat, a ditty composed by a chap called Peter Lawler and recorded at the Abbey Road studios by session musicians, will replace the current Judge Jules sound.

Premier League spokesman Dan Johnson revealed: "The best way to describe it is a cross between The Who and The Lightning Seeds." The music will be played over the coin toss before every league fixture and replaces a tune which was first recorded ahead of the 2004-05 campaign, and remixed in 2005 by Arsenal-mad DJ Judge Jules, of Radio One fame.

You can hear the original version of the Premier League Theme here. And you can listen to the remixed version by Judge Jules of the anthem here.

We await with baited breath as to what the new anthem sounds like.
