Man City 2-1 Reading
Reading were dealt a cruel blow deep into injury time when City's Stephen Ireland hit a superb volley to snatch all three points and retain their 100% home record.
For the Royals it was a killer blow as they held firm after coming from a goal behind early in the first half. James Harper scored just before the break following Martin Petrov's 11th minute opener. The second half was little to write home about and the game looked to be heading for a draw, especially when Geovanni - on as a sub for Elano in the second half - wasted a glorious late chance. Shane Long in fact almost won it for the visitors but found himself offside from Dave Kitson's pass.
So the winless away run continues for Reading. Next up is Middlesbrough at the Madstad and a chance to pick up an important and much needed three points.
